Sculpture

 

Course Overview - This course is designed to teach students basic teachiques for additive and subtractive processes; laboratory sessions using paper, wire, clay, plaster, glass, and plastic; and study of positive and negaive space, mass, and volume for creating of individual works. Encompasses bas-relief, in-the-round, mobile, and stable structures.

 

Projects: Students will be introduced to:

Paper Scultpure Design - Two-dimensional scultprue is learned through use of paper and cutting techniques, creating a visual patter or picture playing with light.

Wire Sculpture - Three-dimensional sculpture is researched and practed through wire molding techniques.

Metal Embossing Sculpture - Students emboss, cut, and form metal for 2d/3d sculpture. Beads may be incorporated.

Cardboard Sculpture - Students cut and connect card board to create a 3-dimensional sculpture piece.

Ceramic Tile (Texture Blocks) - Students create ceramic tile utilizing subtractive and additive sculpture methods, incorporating texture.

Ceramic Salt Pig and spoon scultpure - Students create a slump pot with subtractive and additive sculpture.

Ceramic Figuring - Students create a ceramic figuring with multiple methods.

Cermaic Food - Students create food design with multiple methods.

Ceramic Architecture Sculpture - Students create an architecture design with multiple methods.

Painting and glazing forms - All ceramic and plaster forms will be finished using painting and glazing techniques.

Soap Sculpture - Study of shape and imagination utilizing a soap bar and carving tools to create animals.
