Course Overview: This course is designed to teach students a variety of craft techniques.

 

Mosaic Art History - Students will research and review mosaic art and artists

Drawing Mosaics - Students will design and draw a colored pencil mosaic design

Mosaic Bird Bath - Students will create a glass mosaic using their drawings

Clay Art History - Students will research and review clay art and artists

Clay Mask Slumping - Students will review cultural masks. Students wil utilize slump molds

                  with additive and subtractive sculpting methods to create an individual

                  clay mask.

Clay Soap Dispenser - Students utilize coil method to create this piece.

Clay vocabulary and tools are learned throughout the clay unit.

Printmaking Art History - Students will research printmaking methods and history of

                  printmaking.

Found Oject Printmaking - Students will utilize found objects and printmaking methods to

                 create an individual printmaking piece.

Linoleum Printing - Students will learn linoleum cutting and printmaking methods to create an

                 individual t-shirt design.

Basket Weaving - Following culture-based basket weaving research, students will choose medium

                 and crete woven baskets.

Vintage Art - Students research and review vintage art. Students create an individual vintage

                 art piece.
