Art I Syllabus
Course Overview: This course is designed to teach students beginning drawing techniques, focusing on three large drawings including architecture, portrait, and depth of space drawings.
Projects: Students will be introduced to:
Pre-test - Student will draw 8 designated items. Test will
help teacher evaluate individual level of each
student.
Perspective - 1, 2, & 3pt. perspective and elliptical will be
introduced and applied. Proportions worked into
all lessons.
Texture Study - Textures are reveiwed and practiced. Students
create a personal texture table.
Architecture- Students will incorporate perspective studies
to complete an architecture drawing.
Gestures - Students practice gesture drawing and learn figure
proportions.
Shading - Value is taught and applied in a still life
setting, using three basic shapes. Light sources,
composition, and proportions are applied.
Portrait - Face features and proportions are taught in
portraiture. Student applies knowledge of shading,
proportions, contrast, and composition.
Still Life Drawing - Drawing method taught incorporating free
hand drawing and shading techniques.
View through a Hole - Students use creativity, drawing tools,
and perspective to create a space drawing.
Art History - Students will be introduced to Art History and
Past/Present Artists.
